Student activity date | VET Information Standard

Definition

Specifies the date on which a student enters the student status for the reported training.

Context

It is used for monitoring the duration spent by a student in a particular training state and is cross-referenced with the reported scheduled dates.

Guidelines

Student activity date is the date the student status occurred. The student status of 'registered' refers to when the student enrols in one or more classes, not necessarily when data is entered into the student management system. The student status of 'commenced', relates to when the proposed training activity begins. For online training, the date for 'commenced' marks the date when materials are accessed, rather than when they become available. For assessment-only students, the assessment start date for the Student activity date for 'commenced' should be used. In clustered delivery training, the Student activity date for 'commenced' occurs when the proposed activities began for the specific subjects taught together. When reporting the Student activity date for 'concluded' where attached to a student status reason 'formal withdrawal' or 'informal withdrawal', the actual date the student stopped participating should be applied as opposed to the date the trainer determines that the student has withdrawn. The valid combinations of reporting student status, student status reason and student activity dates are available in the student state transitions table.

BRDG00116	A program enrolment in a state of commenced must have its Student activity date matching the earliest commenced Student activity date of its associated subjects.
