Definition

A distinctive code assigned to an individual, providing them with access to nationally recognised vocational education and training throughout their lifetime.

Context

It enables the gathering of a client's educational achievements for the USI transcript and for analysis and research purposes, at the same time protecting client privacy.

Guidelines

Where a USI has been supplied on the enrolment form, this information must be reported and collected; reporting this as soon as possible. is encouraged. If a data submission is missing large numbers of USIs, it may not be accepted. Training organisations must only use the code INDIV for clients who have obtained an individual exemption from the student identifiers registrar because they have a genuine personal objection to being assigned a USI. Training organisations must sight the exemption letter sent to the client by the Registrar before using this code. Note that the use of this code will be closely monitored.
