Term (temporary) address

Last updated: 15/07/2026

The VET Information Standard requires training providers to collect a student’s permanent residential address. If a student resides during term time at a different location from their usual home or permanent address, RTOs should also capture this information on the enrolment form under the term (temporary) address for reporting to NCVER.

This page explains what qualifies as a term (temporary) address, when it should be collected, and how to record it.

Many students have a temporary address when undertaking training, including those who relocate for study, undertake short-term placements or live away from home during study. A term (temporary) address must reflect the physical location where the student resides for the duration of their training.

Enrolment form question

The temporary address you live at during the study period should be a physical Australian address with a street number and name, not post-office box.
