Preparing for VET Information Standard Reporting – A Guide for RTOs
The following content is designed to provide RTOs with important information about key changes to national VET activity reporting, how to prepare to transition, and access to the tools, resources and guidance available.
The current Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information Statistical Standard (AVETMISS) is being replaced by the new VET Information Standard as part of the VET Data Streamlining (VDS) Program. RTOs will transition to the new standard by 1 January 2029.
Key changes to national reporting
RTOs are encouraged to learn what the main differences are between the current AVETMISS reporting requirements and the new VET Information Standard requirements.

Ensure your SMS can support VET Information Standard reporting
All RTO checklist transition activities have been completed
Any outstanding AVETMISS reporting obligations have been met
Relevant staff are aware of the new reporting requirements
